Orrery is a local-first, private knowledge network. The desktop application runs entirely on your own device. The Website provides information about Kinoto and account management services required to use certain features.
Access to the service is provided at our discretion and is not guaranteed to any individual or organisation.

Zero warranty of any kind
The Application is provided strictly "as is." We make no guarantee, express or implied, of any kind whatsoever.
We expressly disclaim all warranties with respect to the Application, including but not limited to:
- Correctness, completeness, or reliability of any output produced by the Application
- Uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation
- Fitness for any particular purpose or use case
- Security of data stored, processed, or transmitted by the Application
- Protection against unauthorised access, data theft, or interception of data
- Prevention of data loss, data corruption, or accidental deletion
- Compatibility with any hardware, operating system, or third-party software
- Freedom from bugs, security vulnerabilities, or exploits
- Protection against damage to hardware, storage media, or any device on which the Application is installed or run
You assume all risk arising from the use or inability to use the Application. This disclaimer applies to all forms of loss or damage, direct or indirect, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of business, loss of privacy, hardware damage, and any other tangible or intangible loss.
05Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Kinoto and its contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the use of the Application or Website, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
This includes, without limitation, damages arising from data loss, data theft, unauthorised access, security breaches, hardware failure, or loss of business or revenue.
06Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorised access.
Accounts are non-transferable. We reserve the right to require verification of identity at any time.
07Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Website or Application for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that could harm Kinoto, other users, or third parties. This includes but is not limited to:
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or its infrastructure
- Distributing malicious software or using the service to facilitate attacks on other systems
- Harvesting or scraping data from the Website without authorisation
- Impersonating any person or entity
08Right to Refuse
We reserve the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate access to the service for any account, at any time, for any reason, including without cause and without prior notice or explanation. This right applies at our sole discretion and without liability of any kind.
Kinoto is a private service. Access is a privilege, not a right.
09Modifications
10Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Portuguese courts for any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
EU regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), apply where relevant regardless of the governing law clause above.
